Hopes Fade for Criminal Justice Reform This Year

Despite increased momentum from activists and a widespread recognition of the harms of mass incarceration, it is unlikely that Congress will pass any legislation that addresses criminal justice reform this year: “The push for criminal justice reform, the legislation seen as having the best chance of passing Congress this session, has stalled as key senators hold slim hopes of passing anything before the end of year.”
