Through the ConnectHome initiative, Internet service providers, nonprofits and the private sector offer broadband access, technical training, digital literacy programs and devices for residents in HUD-assisted-housing units in 28 pilot communities nationwide.
“The Internet is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity,” said Julian Castro, HUD secretary. “By delivering Internet access to low-income communities, we’re making sure that our young people can compete.”
