Chicago Police Department Instates New Policies

The Chicago Tribune reports on new policies from the Chicago Police Department that aim to reduce excessive force. The new policy prohibits a policy officer from shooting a fleeing person unless the person is an imminent danger to the police or others.

The policy changes — expected to take effect this fall — represent a milestone for a department upended nearly 18 months ago by the release of video of a white officer shooting black teenager Laquan McDonald 16 times.
