Through this project, we aim to foster community investment and revitalization against the backdrop of decades of failed policies in communities of color: the war on crime, the war on drugs, the war on the poor, and disinvestment across public services—transportation, housing, education, recreation, job creation, and healthcare—while punitive systems and mass incarceration skyrocketed. This project is a strategic partnership with a St. Louis-based nonprofit, Beloved Streets of America, whose mission is to bring back pride and prosperity to the streets named after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. across the U.S.
