Mass incarceration is devastating not for just the person incarcerated, but for their loved ones, their family, their entire community.
“For black children whose fathers didn’t finish high school, the odds are even greater: more than 50 percent have dads who were locked up by the time they turned 14. To put it another way, the children of black high-school dropouts are more likely than not to see their fathers locked up.”
