
In the nearly 50 years since the Civil Rights Act was enacted, African Americans still struggle with the same core issues: employment, education, economic stability and growth. We must change the way the African American community is positioned and understood, both within the community and in the city and nation at large.
Over the past 100 years, the Chicago Urban League has consistently demonstrated that we are a movement that incites change. As we enter our second century, we will position ourselves to connect advocates, community members and decision-makers across the city, holding people and institutions accountable to their promises to the African American community and serving as a catalyst for permanent change.
