Despite that fact the 98.1% of US private agricultural land is owned by whites, inequality in the food system is widely overlooked. This report by Food First explores the policies that have led to a system of agriculture that exploits people of color. “In nearly every aspect—socially, economically, politically, and environmentally—the US food system is characterized by widespread inequity. This inequity, however, is not inevitable, but is orchestrated and perpetuated by structural racialization and corporate power.”
