In January 2019, JustLeadership released their #buildCommunities Platform, a public statement demanding a call to action from the City of New York to invest into the well-being of it’s communities. The platform demands adjustments in eight areas of issue across the City: Public Health, Housing, Employment and Economic Development, Education and Schools, Community Programs and Services, and Conflict Transformation and Accountability.
JustLeadershipUSA presents this #buildCommunities platform as a roadmap for New York City to make a bold shift from the status quo to a city that lives our values of equity and justice by acknowledging the vast resources that decades of mass incarceration have extracted from Black, Brown, and poor communities, and starting today to address that legacy by investing in all of the things we know works to create true safety.
